Office of Field Experiences

The Office of Field Experiences offers students of both Elementary and Secondary Education a variety of classroom experiences and professional growth opportunities to develop educators who are knowledgeable, ethical caring decision makers.

Elementary Education Program

K-State student teacher

The elementary education program prepares you to teach children in kindergarten through sixth grade in a self-contained classroom. Elementary education is a career in which you can find the satisfaction of helping children learn, work closely with other caring adults, and contribute to the future of the world by educating tomorrow's leaders.

Secondary Education Program

K-State student teacher

The secondary education program prepares you to teach in grades six through twelve (high schools, junior high schools, and middle schools). Secondary teachers prepare to teach in one or more content areas. Critical and analytical thinking, careful and thoughtful communication, and a desire to explore, question, and solve problems are promoted in the secondary education major.

Master of Arts in Teaching Program

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) opens a new pathway to elementary teaching for those who have earned a bachelor’s degree and meet other admissions criteria. This pathway enables qualified Kansans and citizens of other states to earn a master’s degree in 12 months through rigorous online coursework combined with field experiences arranged in accredited elementary schools convenient to students in the program. Upon completion, students will be able to apply for K-6 teacher certification.
