Teaching License — Early Childhood
There are many changes occurring with Early Childhood Education right now. Contact Mary Deluccie to see the current status of the program.

Teaching License — Elementary K-6
If you complete the elementary education program, you will be eligible to teach in a K-6 self-contained classroom. To be licensed, you must pass the PRAXIS Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) test as well as the Elementary: Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (CIA) test. Your license will say Early/Late Childhood Generalist. Additional endorsements are available with extra coursework in ESL, Adaptive and Functional Special Education.

Teaching License — Middle Level 5-8
Middle Level Endorsements cover Grades 5-8 in Social Studies (History Comprehensive), General Science, English, or Math. For K-State to recommend you for this endorsement, you must be licensed in either Elementary or Secondary Education first. To be endorsed to teach Middle School, the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) requires that you have 15 hours in the content area, a middle level pedagogy class or at least one year experience teaching in grades 5-8, and a passing score on the appropriate middle level content test. If you have passed the Math, English or Social Studies test for the Secondary level, you do not need to take the Middle Level test to be licensed in the area. To be licensed in 5-8 Science, you must take the 5-8 General Science test. The Middle Level regulations will go into effect in August 2007, and will be reviewed by KSDE in 5 years.

Teaching License — Secondary 6-12
If you complete the secondary education program, you will be licensed for grades 6-12 with an endorsement in your teaching field. To be licensed, you must pass the PRAXIS Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) test as well as the PRAXIS II subject assessment test in your teaching field. Licensure for an additional subject area is possible by completing at least 50% of the required classes in the teaching field, including the methods, and passing the subject assessment test. If you are endorsed in one science area (biology, chemistry, earth science or physics) you can add an endorsement in the other areas by passing the content test in the area.

Teaching License — PK-12
If you complete an Education program in Art, Music, or Modern Language Education, you will be licensed to teach in Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 12. To be licensed, you must pass the PRAXIS Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) test as well as the PRAXIS II subject assessment test in your teaching field. You can work at an Early Childhood, Elementary or Secondary school, teaching in your subject area. Additional endorsements can be added at any level.
