Graduation and Commencement

Graduation
Upon completion of 80 or more credit hours, a graduation check will be completed and mailed to you enabling you to plan carefully the last semesters of study, so all degree requirements are met.

The Application for Graduation Clearance form must be filed in the Center for Student and Professional Services (13 Bluemont Hall, 532-5524) within the first four weeks of the semester in which you plan to graduate or during the first two weeks of the summer session. This form is used to check whether all degree requirements have been completed and is a necessary checkpoint before graduation.

If you are a summer graduate and you plan to walk through the ceremony in May, you must notify the Center for Student and Professional Services, 13 Bluemont Hall. There is a Walk-Through Form that you must complete by the same deadline as the May graduation applicants.

Seniors with an overall grade point average of 3.0 may take up to nine graduate credits. However, these credits cannot be applied toward an undergraduate degree.

At the beginning of the first semester of the senior year, you should register with Career and Employment Services (CES), Holtz Hall, 532-6508, in order to obtain access to job listings, participate in on-campus interviews, and have your resume referred to employers. More information about the registration process can be obtained on the CES home page (www.k-state.edu/ces). In addition to registering with CES, you should be familiar with services and resources they offer, including on-campus interviews/career fairs, job search workshops (including resume writing, interview skill development, and dining etiquette), individual advising, reference files (a/k/a credential or placement files), school district/company information and application forms, and a wealth of other career library resources.

Commencement
Commencement exercises are held at the end of the fall and spring semesters. You are strongly encouraged to participate. After filing the Application for Graduation Clearance, you will receive correspondence from the Registrar’s office (118 Anderson Hall) describing (1) dates, events, and procedures for participating in graduation exercises, (2) information about cap and gown purchase, (3) a graduate report form to be completed for the K-State Alumni Association, and (4) other information.
