The STAR Form is due on 09/25/2008. If you have further questions please refer them to room 13 Bluemont Hall. You must have a valid TB test on record with the Office of Laboratory Experiences in Bluemont 13 in order to student teach. Deadline for the TB test is 09/25/2008. I need a TB test (click here for test dates). All elementary and secondary education students must show proof of American Red Cross or equivalent (e.g. American Health Association) certification in both CPR and First Aid (Community First Aid and Safety) in order to be eligible to student teach. Proof of completion must be provided to the Laboratory Experiences Office (13BH). Local training is available through the American Red Cross. (785-537-2180). Speech Pathology and Early Childhood Education students must verify their CPR / 1st Aid and current TB testing through the Speech Pathology or Human Ecology Department. Please read the following: Submission of your STAR form assumes that you understand the conditions stated below. With this Student Teacher Assignment Request (S.T.A.R.) form, you are given the opportunity to indicate 1st, 2nd, and 3rd preferences for school and grade/class placement. This will assist in placing you for student teaching. Because you make specific requests does not guarantee that you will receive what you request. Placements and supervision are arranged by the appropriate University and school district personnel. Students are responsible for transportation to and from the student teaching location and for any other physical arrangements necessary for student teaching. Generally placements are made within a 20 mile radius of Manhattan for Elementary and a 45 mile radius of Manhattan for Secondary. Other placements vary depending on the program requested. You can get information about these placements from the Coordinator of Laboratory Experiences. If it is impossible for you to student teach under the restrictions listed above, you should discuss this matter with the Coordinator of Laboratory Experiences prior to assignments being made. It may be necessary to delay your student teaching to a later semester. The order in which S.T.A.R. forms are submitted does not affect the assignment. Only those submitted after the deadline date will be put on "hold." Students submitting forms late may be placed only after a conference with the Coordinator of Laboratory Experiences. Elementary and Secondary Education students must complete all three sections of the STAR Form to be given a student teaching assignment:
