Teleprojects
CO-NECT
is a national organization that provides school improvement
services, including a number of teleprojects and sponsorship
of Connecting to Kids, featuring Kids Who Know and Do and
Project-Based Learning, a national conference that takes place
in May each year. There are a small number of projects listed
here that you might consider joining.

Global
Schoolhouse
Global SchoolNet Foundation is a nonprofit educational organization
that promotes project-based learning. It has many links of
interest to teachers, including a professional development
area that has a link to articles on NetPBL, a term now being
used for PBL projects in which collaboration takes place over
the Internet. The Global Schoolhouse has more than 800 projects
registered. You can search by age level, starting date, subject
area, and even complexity of the project.

iEARN-
International Education and Resource Network
iEARN is a nonprofit global network designed to support collaborative
projects among young people. Classrooms may join iEARN and
participate in the many ongoing projects in their database,
or teachers may submit projects of their own. The project
database is searchable by subject area and grade level.

Connections Project: Let’s Go!
Around the World
Creative
Connections is a not-for-profit (sponsored by The New York
Foundation for the Arts) project which provides an educational
website with online activities and links to art exchanges
and shared study partnerships with classrooms in selected
regions of the world.

In
this Annenberg/CPB funded project, classrooms study migration
of species north in the spring and south in the fall and report
their observations to the Web-based searchable database so
that all students can learn the meaning of being part of a
large research project.

The
Monarch Watch website encourages you to join in the study
of the monarch butterflies by raising them or studying them
as they pass through your region. The site has research information
and links, projects you can do in your school, newsletters,
and online ordering to buy the kits you need for the projects.

Quests
The U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration provides
this virtual space in which there are a number of different
kinds of opportunities for learning for K-12 students. These
include Webcasts, live chats with NASA personnel, informational
resources and activities, a space for teachers to interact,
and opportunities for classes of students to collaborate.

TakingITGlobal
TakingITGlobal
(TIG) is an organization founded by teenagers that provides
a website to encourage young people to learn about other points
of view and to volunteer to make a difference in the world.
The TIG site introduces young people from around the world
to discuss current issues and topics of interest, share their
art and writing, and provide service to their own communities.
