Jenkins' love for baseball continued after leaving the Negro Leagues in 1947. As the sergeant-of-arms and an active member of the board of directors of the International Afro-American Sports Hall of Fame, Jenkins speaks to many students and other groups about African Americans contributions in sports.
After retiring from Kelsey Hayes, he became a devoted and faithful member of the Linwood Church of Christ. Considering baseball to be the greatest sport of all times, Jenkins has dedicated his life not only to the sport but also to sharing his knowledge about the history of the game.
