How to set e-mail forwarding:
1. Go to the eProfile page and sign in with your K-State eID and password.
2. Modify your spam-filter setting first. In the "E-mail settings" section,
click on the spam-filtering "enabled" link. It is recommended that
the filter-sensitivity level be set to 1.5. Click Save Changes.
3. Go back to the eProfile page. In the "E-mail settings" section,
click on "Set up e-mail forwarding".
4. On the E-mail Forwarding form, type in the address where you want your mail
to be sent. (If you want to keep a copy in your @k-state.edu mailbox, select
the checkbox. If you do this, you need to periodically check and clean out
your K-State Inbox and mail folders.)
5. Click the Add Forward button.
Your e-mail will begin automatically forwarding within 15 minutes to the address
specified. The form can be used at any time to cancel or change your mail-forwarding
settings.
This mail-forwarding service is not available for messages that bypass the
central e-mail system. For example,
e-mail sent directly to departmental mail servers (user@DEPT.ksu.edu) cannot
use central e-mail forwarding.
Forwarding has risks. Be aware that K-State cannot guarantee mail forwarded
to another address will actually be delivered. E-mail routed to other sites
can be lost or returned
("bounced") for many reasons, including:
• A full mailbox at the destination site
• Others' mail filters that mistakenly reject K-State e-mail
• Technical problems at the destination site
Procedure on bounced mail that has been forwarded:
K-State will remove e-mail forwarding privileges on an Inbox when mail is bounced
back three times from the forwarded destination and marked as spam.
eID’s:
How do I get an eID for KATS, K-State email, and K-State Online (KSOL)?
• Go to https://signin.k-state.edu/WebISO/login?service=https%3A%2F%2Feid.k-state.edu%2FeProfile%2F&logoutCallback=https://eid.k-state.edu/eProfile/logout&serviceName=eProfile.
• In the box “Need a K-State eID”, click on the purple text

• You must then enter your information choose characters for your eID and
password. Make your eID easy to remember and if possible, relate to your name.
• Your e-mail address becomes your eID with the attached @ksu.edu.
• You will be prompted to change your eID password every semester through
a KSU e-mail reminder.
What if I forget my password?
• Phone the IT Help Desk at 785-532-7722. You'll be asked to verify your
identity, after which you'll be assigned a temporary password so you can access
the eid.k-state.edu website and then change
to another password.
• Or, visit an IT help desk with a photo ID. On the Manhattan campus, go
to the IT Help Desk in Hale Library. On the Salina campus, go to the ID Center,
103 TAC Building.
Why do I have to change my password?
A good password changed at regular intervals provides the best protection for
your computing identity, files, and K-State resources. Students, faculty, and
staff must change passwords for their eIDs twice a year through their eProfile
page (via the eid.k-state.edu site). This
policy took effect in summer 1999 as a result of increasing
break-ins on K-State computers and the need to enhance computer security.
Passwords for eIDs must be changed each fall and spring semester in order to
access K-State's information technology resources and comply with university
policy. If you fail to change your password, it will expire and you'll
lose access to central e-mail services and other technology resources.
What's the password deadline?
Passwords for eIDs. These passwords must be changed each fall and spring semester,
during an approximate six-week timeframe.
• For SPRING semester, the timeframe is Jan. 1 through the second Wednesday
in February.
• For FALL semester, the timeframe is Aug. 1 through the second Wednesday
in September.
eID passwords not changed by the end of a timeframe expire the following day.
See What if I miss the deadline? below.
What if I miss the deadline?
If you don't change your eID's password by the deadline, it expires for security
purposes. You won't be able to get your central e-mail, log on to KATS, and
more. If you miss the deadline, go to the eid.k-state.edu website
to get a new password. You must provide proof of identity.
