Project SOAR: A culturally responsive Professional Development Opportunity
Project SOAR is a partnership project between Shawnee Mission, Olathe School districts, and Kansas State University. This partnership is fostered and nurtured through a focus on love, laughter and life, which is the cornerstone of our students’ academic, linguistic and cognitive development. This project aims at providing teachers with 15 hours for their ESL endorsement. Through a sustained focus on site-specific needs of teachers and students alike, and within the realm of professional learning communities, Project SOAR provides teachers with the tools necessary for today’s changing demographics. The endorsement sequence aims at providing teachers with a theoretical foundation with a combination of strategies that are aimed at helping students enhance their academic and literacy development.
