Project highlights:

Project BESITOS provides for the increased capacity necessary to operationalize ongoing restructuring plans in the schools of the target districts beginning with an increase in the number of teachers endorsed to deliver Bilingual Education in Kansas schools. Project BESITOS also fosters the creation of Bilingual Career Clubs of secondary students in target high schools to systematically organize, mentor, and support students interested in careers in Bilingual Education.

Project BESITOS currently provides participants with a solid background in research/theories of language acquisition, as well as, an overview of key terms, frameworks, and theories in the field of Linguistics. Instructional approaches, methods, strategies, and techniques for second language learners in the public schools including strategies for native language support, curricular and instructional adaptation, and advocacy for programs, approaches, and students are taught and are expected outcomes for program participants.
