The Certificate, Two Master's Degree specialties, and Ph.D. program options are available completely online.

Graduate School Certificate

KSU Graduate School Certificate and Transcript Endorsement in Digital Teaching and Learning
The Digital Teaching and Learning specialty offers a Graduate School Certificate and transcript endorsement. However, this not the same as licensure. There is no licensure for technology in the state of Kansas at any level. This certificate program has entrance requirements and exit outcomes. Practicing professionals across the state are consulted in the development and delivery of this specialty, the certificate, and DTL courses. All courses in the Certificate Program require the use of The International Society for Technology in Education National Education Standards (ISTE NETS).Questions regarding admission should be directed to Dr. Rosemary Talab, talab@ksu.edu

Master's Degrees:

1) Digital Teaching and Learning (DTL) Specialization Description (G6)
DTL is one of the specialties that graduate students may choose in the M.S. program in Curriculum & Instruction. The coursework for this degree is aimed at improving the skill level and knowledge of K-12 practicing teachers.

2) Educational Computing, Design, and Online Learning Master's Degree Specialization Description (G5)
Educational Computing, Design & Online Learning (ECDOL) is one of the two specialties that graduate students may choose. The faculty in this specialty are housed in the Dept. of Curriculum & Instruction and in other universities, school districts, and colleges across the U.S. The focus is on lifelong learning, and the ways that technology can improve our thinking and learning processes. Educators whose focus is any age group are welcome. A number of courses are shared by ECDOL (G5) and Digital Teaching and Learning (DTL) (G6), so you will have the opportunity to work with faculty and students in both areas.


Graduates at the masters level are classroom teachers, technology coordinators, regional service center trainers, community college instructors, instructional designers and doctoral students. Questions regarding these two specialties should be directed to Dr. Rosemary Talab, talab@ksu.edu.

Ph.D. Program

Educational Computing, Design, and Online Learning (ECDOL)
The ECDOL program is designed for busy professionals who wish to learn more about online teaching, emerging technologies, and instructional design and put this knowledge and new skills into practice. Graduates at the doctoral level typically work in higher education, teaching either in their original content area or in an area of Educational Technology, such astaking a leadership position in instructional design, online/distributed learning, or the design of learning environments. K-State Online (includes Readiness Test and Downloads)
Hardware and Software Requirements and Information for ECDOL and CT Students
Headet and WebCam requirements for PC and Mac OS. (Word file)

NOTE: all students need a high speed connection (Cox, DSL, etc.). All courses are onlne using K State Online, and audio/videoconferencing software is used for EDCI 887/888, as well as a few others. A headset and webcam are required for the EDCI 887/888 for these courses. Check the course descriptions.
