School Counselor Endorsement

There are two options for licensure as a school counselor in the State of Kansas. One option is for individuals who have a professional teaching license; the second option, the parallel pathway, is for individuals who do not have a professional teaching license. The parallel pathway option requires additional field experiences over two semesters in schools.

The official title of this degree approved by the Board of Regents is M.S. in Counseling and Student Development. The Master of Science Degree in School Counseling is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Students who complete the 48-hour program are eligible for school counseling licensure.
