Teacher Education Advisory Council

What is TEAC?
The Teacher Education Advisory Council (TEAC) provides direction for K-State's teacher education programs. The members are classroom teachers, school administrators, representatives of professional organizations, and university students and faculty. TEAC members meet twice a year to review and make recommendations. They contribute to the development and continued refinement of the college's Conceptual Framework, which provides direction for our programs, courses, and accountability.

What does TEAC do?
Recent meetings have focused on how we can better prepare our undergraduates regarding assessment issues, discipline, and use of technology in the classroom; what we can do to convince outside reviewers that we are successful in preparing teacher candidates to be ethical and caring decision makers; and how to address various issues concerning diversity within the structure of our Conceptual Framework.

Who are the TEAC members?

What do the TEAC members say about their experiences while serving on this council?

“I sense that the professors listen to students and practitioners.”

“I feel good about where the group is going with their heart and dedication, and am glad that I have a chance to be part of it. I'm concerned about how we can relate all this that we've been discussing here today to the real world.”

“This is a great group; I appreciate their honesty.”

“I feel good about the mission statement and the purpose being played out at every level - and the passion displayed by this group. I reflect upon how I was taught and think, 'How am I doing now?' It's been an awesome opportunity to serve on this council. I was skeptical when I started, but every time I come, you ask, 'What can we at K-State do...?' You help your students develop their abilities and to have courage.”

“I feel honored to be a part of this.”
