The credits required for each category or coursework are the minimum number of credits. The total minimum number of credits for KSU coursework is 30, though most students take 39-42.

Doctoral students are encouraged to take what courses they need to in order to be able to effectively conduct dissertation research.

The Dissertation Committee is comprised of Dr. Talab and three other committee members who have taught classes to the student. An outside chair for the dissertation is selected by the Graduate School to chair the final Dissertation Defense.

Other Ph.D. Requirements
Fifteen hours of the Ph.D. program must be at the 800 level or above, not including dissertation hours
Thirty hours of a master's degree are transferred into the Ph.D. program
A minimum of thirty hours must be taken for the Ph.D.
The Preliminary Examination is comprised of a sit-in writing assignment for 3 hours or a paper. The committee member makes this choice.
Thirty dissertation hours are required for graduation
